Apostle of India

St. Thomas, one of the Twelve Apostles, is the father of Christianity in India. Tradition holds that he landed at Kodungallur (Muziris) in 52 AD. He established seven communities (Ezharappallikal) and suffered martyrdom at Mylapore in 72 AD. His faith declaration, 'My Lord and My God,' remains the cornerstone of our faith.

First Woman Saint of India

St. Alphonsa (Anna Muttathupadathu) was a Franciscan Clarist nun who lived a life of hidden suffering. Born in Kudamaloor, she faced physical pain and misunderstanding with a smile, offering everything to Jesus. She is a powerful intercessor for those suffering from physical and mental afflictions.

Social Reformer & CMI Founder

St. Chavara was a giant of the Syro-Malabar Church. He founded the CMI congregation for men and the CMC for women. He famously ordered that 'every church must have a school' (Pallikku Oru Pallikkoodam), transforming Kerala's social landscape. He also introduced the printing press and numerous liturgical renewals.

The Praying Mother

St. Euphrasia Eluvathingal lived a secluded life of prayer at the Ollur convent. Known as the 'Praying Mother' (Evuprasiamma), her life was a continuous hymn of praise to God. She possessed a deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Rosary.

Apostle of the Family

St. Mariam Thresia Chiramel dedicated her life to visiting the sick and helping the poor in their homes, a revolutionary act for a woman of her time. She bore the Stigmata (wounds of Christ) and was a mystic who conversed with the Holy Family. She founded the Holy Family Congregation to sanctify families.

Kunjachan - Apostle to the Dalits

Blessed 'Kunjachan' (Little Father) spent his entire priestly life in Ramapuram, dedicating himself to the upliftment of the Dalit community. He baptized thousands and lived a life of extreme simplicity, walking barefoot to visit the huts of the poor to bring them the light of Christ.

Martyr of Charity

Blessed Rani Maria Vattalil was a Franciscan Clarist nun working in Indore. She empowered the landless poor, which angered local landlords. She was brutally martyred on a bus in 1995. Her family's forgiveness of her assassin is a powerful testament to Christian love.

Martyr of the Faith

St. Devasahayam (Lazarus) was a Hindu official in the court of Travancore who converted to Christianity. Despite immense torture and eventual martyrdom in 1752, he refused to renounce his faith. He stood for equality and the truth of the Gospel against the caste system.
